Establishing Digital ICT Hubs in Kairuri and Kanorori: A Step Toward Digital Empowerment!

We are excited to share that, in partnership with the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Committee, we recently visited the Kairuri and Kanorori resource centers, which have been identified for the first phase of the Constituency Digital ICT Hubs initiative in Manyatta. This project represents a critical step toward ensuring that our youth have access to digital literacy and online economic opportunities.

Key Features of the ICT Hubs:

As part of the first phase, the resource centers in Kairuri and Kanorori will undergo significant upgrades and will be equipped with essential digital resources, including:

  • 100 computers provided through the Jitume Program, a joint initiative to empower local communities by providing access to modern technology.
  • WiFi connectivity to ensure seamless internet access, enabling students, job seekers, and entrepreneurs to utilize the hubs for learning, research, and online work.
  • Trainers who will guide users in acquiring digital literacy skills, helping them leverage technology for educational, business, and personal growth.

Renovations and Upgrades:

To ensure these centers are fully prepared to serve the community, funds have been allocated for the renovation of the two resource centers. These renovations will enhance the infrastructure, creating welcoming and functional spaces where the local community can engage with digital tools and opportunities.

Empowering Youth Through Digital Skills:

The establishment of these digital hubs will play a crucial role in helping the youth of Manyatta acquire essential digital literacy skills and gain access to economic opportunities through online work. In today’s fast-evolving global economy, digital skills are not just an advantage—they are a necessity. By providing access to computers, the internet, and expert training, we are ensuring that our youth are well-prepared to compete in the digital age.

Expanding the Vision:

Our long-term goal is to establish a digital ICT hub in every ward of Manyatta, creating widespread access to technology and ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution. With this project, we aim to uplift entire communities by providing tools and opportunities that will spur innovation, education, and economic growth.

Key Leaders and Partners:

The courtesy visit to Kairuri and Kanorori was attended by key members of the NG-CDF Committee, alongside officials from the Ministry of ICT, ICT Authority, and Konza Technopolis. The following MPs were present:

  • Hon. Musa Sirma Cherutich (Chairman, NG-CDF Committee)
  • Hon. Nduyo Susan Ngugi
  • Hon. (Dr.) Ogolla Gideon Ochanda
  • Hon. Oyula Joseph Maero
  • Hon. Kiprono Alfred Mutai
  • Hon. Nyamita Mark Ogolla

We extend our deep appreciation to these leaders for their support and commitment to advancing digital literacy in Manyatta.

Looking Ahead:

As we move forward with the renovation and setup of the Kairuri and Kanorori ICT hubs, we remain committed to expanding digital access across Manyatta. These hubs will serve as centers of learning and opportunity, ensuring that our youth are equipped with the skills and resources needed to succeed in the digital economy.

Thank you to the NG-CDF Committee, our partners from the Ministry of ICT, Konza Technopolis, and the ICT Authority, and all the stakeholders involved in this transformative project. Together, we are shaping a digital future for Manyatta!
