In a transformative initiative, Hon. Gitonga Mukunji, in collaboration with the Matching Fund and the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), has taken significant strides toward improving access to electricity in Manyatta. This initiative, aimed at empowering communities and ending the “era of darkness,” has already seen tremendous progress in several areas.

Villages Already Connected:

Residents of the following villages are already benefiting from this life-changing development:

• Karuari Village in Nginda Ward
• Matangiri Village in Gaturi South
• Kathangari Slums and Upper Kathita in Kirimari Ward

The new electricity connections are enhancing livelihoods, enabling children to study after dark, boosting local businesses, and improving overall quality of life.

Upcoming Projects:

Building on this success, Hon. Mukunji has announced plans to extend electricity to additional villages in the community. The following areas have been earmarked for connection through this year’s Matching Fund initiative:

• Karimari
• Gisha
• Iriari
• Karurina Slums
• Runganga
• Muconoke
