Visit to Gatunduri Day Secondary School Following Fire Incident in Mbeti North Ward

This evening, Hon. MUkunji visited Gatunduri Day Secondary School in Mbeti North Ward to assess the situation following a fire that earlier today destroyed the school’s laboratory. The unfortunate incident has caused significant damage, and we are deeply concerned about its impact on the students, especially as they prepare for their upcoming KCSE practicals next week.

During our visit, we held a constructive conversation with the school principal to evaluate the extent of the damage and discuss immediate steps to restore normalcy. The loss of the laboratory equipment and facilities is a major setback, but we are committed to ensuring that learning is not disrupted for the students.

As a matter of urgency, we will be pooling resources through the NG-CDF Manyatta emergency kitty to assist in rebuilding the damaged laboratory and replacing essential equipment. Our priority is to ensure that the school is well-prepared for the KCSE practical exams, and that the students can continue their education without further disruption.

We commend the swift response of the school staff and the local community in managing the situation and preventing further damage. We will continue working closely with the school administration and all stakeholders to ensure the restoration process is swift and effective.

Our thoughts are with the students and teachers during this challenging time, and we are confident that with the collective support of the community, we will rebuild and emerge stronger.
