Residents and traders of Embu Town have a reason to celebrate as preparations for the tarmacking of the KWS–Mama Ngina Street Road officially commence. The road, which serves as a vital link within the town’s central business district, is set to undergo a complete transformation as part of an ongoing urban roads improvement plan.

The project is being undertaken in collaboration with the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and is aimed at improving mobility, boosting trade, and enhancing safety in the bustling urban center.

“We are committed to ensuring our towns have infrastructure that supports growth, business, and safe movement. Through our partnership with KURA, Embu is rising,” said Hon. Gitonga Mukunji, MP for Manyatta Constituency.

ROAD UPGRADE FEATURES

The KWS–Mama Ngina Street Road will benefit from:

  • High-quality tarmac to ensure durability and ease of traffic flow
  • Proper drainage systems to address flooding during rainy seasons
  • Pedestrian pathways for the safety of shoppers and commuters
  • Urban beautification elements to enhance the town’s aesthetics

The project is expected to ease congestion in the heart of Embu Town and reduce vehicle maintenance costs caused by potholes and dusty road surfaces.

SIMILAR WORKS UNDERWAY

In addition to the KWS–Mama Ngina Street upgrade, similar tarmacking works are ongoing at Gatondo–Ithaara Road and KRA–Majengo Road, covering both urban and peri-urban transport corridors across the constituency.

These projects align with the broader vision to modernize road infrastructure in Manyatta Constituency, ensuring that both towns and villages benefit equally from development.

“We are building a network — not just roads. A network of opportunity, trade, movement, and connection,” added Hon. Mukunji.

URBAN TRANSFORMATION TAKING SHAPE

The urban roads improvement program reflects a growing investment in Embu Town’s future. Traders and matatu operators have welcomed the initiative, noting the positive economic impact it will have.

As earth movers and engineers get to work on KWS–Mama Ngina Street, residents are hopeful that this is just the beginning of a new, modernized Embu Town — clean, accessible, and prosperous.
